Our mission is to connect youth with opportunities that promote academic excellence and character development through athletics. We desire to help all youth participants, but with special attention to middle and high school athletes. We aim to help youth prepare for their futures by understanding the choices they make and how they can impact their futures.
Choices is an acronym for Christ Humility Opportunity Integrity Character Education Success. We believe that with the proper village all of our youth can make positive choices that create a lifetime of success.
Meet Our Founder!
Fernando Velasco is just a kid from Wrens, GA who also has a successful NFL career. Fernando is a 2008 Graduate of the University of Georgia where he played both center and guard under the leadership of Coach Mark Richt.
After receiving his degree in Health and physical Education Fernando declared for the 2008 NFL Draft. After going undrafted he was signed as a free agent with the Tennessee Titans. After 5 seasons with the Titans; Fernando spent one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has been a member of The Carolina Panthers since 2014.
Diane Lanier, is an accounting executive hailing from Nashville Tennessee. She brings over 15 years of accounting and leadership experience to the board of directors. She is President and CEO of All Things Accounting Consulting, LLC.
La’Tarzja Henry-Assistant Superintendent for Community Partnerships and Family Engagement Charlotte Mecklenberg Schoools
LaTarzja Henry brings wide knowledge of the community and student needs to her role as a RCF board member. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Henry holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Hampton University and a master’s degree in communications from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and serves on the board of Women Executives. She and her husband have three children.
Tieashia velasco provides over 10 years of experience in the field of social work and non profit management to RCF. Tieashia’s goal as ED is to provide leadership and dependability to the organization. She holds a bachelors of Social Work from South Carolina State University and a Masters in Social Work from Western Kentucky. She and her husband have one son.
Stacey is a Jefferson County educator that serves as Assistant Principal for Jefferson County high school. Stacy has been an educator for over 20 years and is married to JB Arnold. They have 2 children.
